Using a jQuery Slider With WordPress

There are a variety of ways to integrate a jQuery slider with your WordPress install.  The easiest way is to simply find a theme with a slide built-in.  If you want to go a little more advanced you can use a plugin to integrate the slider into any theme.  But for full control over your slider it’s best to do it yourself (advanced).  The WooPlugin package from WooThemes helps make this process a bit easier than it would be just starting from scratch.  Scott Chow goes over some additional options in his tutorial on how to start a blog using

You just need to add some ideas to your <head> tags, add some markup, and then hookup the slider.  From there there are an unlimited number of customizations you can do, making this the best solution for web developers.

Is jQuery difficult to learn?

The answer to this question really depends on your background.  If you know JavaScript then it’s not difficult at all, since jQuery it’s just a set of functions.

Usually I hear this question from people who don’t know JavaScript and want to implement jQuery functionality.  In that case, learning JavaScript just to use some jQuery is a bit of a task, but you can come functionally literate without too much trouble.  For the average user though this will be a bit much, which is why using a CMS like WordPress that can easily integrate jQuery functionality (through plugins and themes) is probably your best bet if you don’t already know JavaScript.
